WHY SEEK COUNSELLING?
We turn to counselling for many different reasons. Sometimes it is something specific we want to address in our lives. Sometimes, we just feel stuck, weighed down or worried by aspects of our life.
I will provide you with a confidential space to explore issues that may be causing you stress and anxiety in your life. Through counselling, I can support you to face what feels difficult. Together we will work to ease your distress.
I offer a service that fits around your life. In our work together, we will explore if you want short-term counselling with a fixed number of sessions or longer-term more in-depth therapy. If you want face-to-face sessions I can see you in my bespoke therapy space based in North Oxford. If you prefer online counselling, I am able to offer this through a secure platform.
I continue to offer online sessions due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, but am also resuming socially distanced face-to-face sessions with clients who prefer this.
WHAT I CAN HELP WITH
You do not need to have a specific issue for which you are seeking help. Many people seek out counselling as a means of dealing with unhelpful or difficult feelings, such as overwhelming anxiety, stress, sadness, or because they are feeling stuck in a way of thinking or being. However, here are some of the specific aspects of lived experience that I can support you to work through.
Abuse: this includes physical, sexual, emotional.
Anger: this is a broad term encompassing a range of different expressions including self-harm and addictions
Pregnancy-related issues, including being pregnant, labour and birth experiences, infertility, miscarriage and abortion
Warm, Safe, Compassionate
I am a BACP registered, integrative, humanistic, psychotherapeutic counsellor with a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a BA (Hons.) degree in Psychology. As a humanistic counsellor, I strongly believe in every person's right to determine their own lives and believe counselling can support you to achieve that.
I draw on my integrative training in Person-centred counselling, Gestalt Therapy and Transactional Analysis in my counselling approach. This means that an exploration of your unique experience of the world lies at the heart of the work we will do together.
I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their ethical framework. I am fully insured.
I have worked with a diverse range of clients, on a diverse range of issues. I have a strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusivity. I also have a deep interest in how the personal and cultural interact to create our experiences of the world that led to my completing a Masters in Social Anthropology from Oxford University.
